A Running Start to 2020
The leadership team of the Caswell GOP has been out and about since the new year working to position Caswell positively among our district and within the State. Over the past few months Caswell has been represented at:
6th District training for future candidates in Sanford (Lee County)
The NCGOP Executive Meeting in Raleigh
6th District Executive Committee Prescient/Convention Training in Alamance County
Legislative visits regarding agriculture
This past February, at the ‘Running Start’ event at the beautiful Lee County GOP headquarters in downtown Sanford, regional GOP leaders were on a panel to share what it takes to win an election. Special guest, our Representative Mark Walker, in from Washington, sat in on the panel too and answered questions from the participants. The 6th District will be hosting additional training sessions for anyone in the district thinking of running for local offices and as soon as the dates are determined, these will be shared. The Caswell GOP invites your insight and feedback as we work to identify and recruit Republicans for our commissioner and school board openings in 2020.
Also, in February, at the NCGOP Executive Meeting in Raleigh, the crowd observed a ‘Remembrance of Tom Stark, with a remarkable ensemble “It is Well” from the Word of Faith Fellowship. The meeting then included comments from NCGOP Chairman Robin Hayes, Director Dallas Woodhouse, Officers of the NCGOP as well as updates from Justice Paul Newby, Judge Phil Berger, Jr, Senator Tamara Barringer and Jim O’Neill. A representative from the Trump 2020 Campaign shared an overview of how they will be working in the field to reelect Trump. More to come on this.
At our District 6 Quarterly Executive Meeting, the topic was Precinct Organization and preparing for our county conventions. Linda Petrou from the District County Chairman’s Association shared an informative overview preparing us all for our county conventions across the district. The Alamance County GOP Chairman, Ben York was the host of this event. They have a great headquarters office too.
In addition, our GOP county neighbors in Rockingham County, Person County and Alamance County have all been extremely supportive and interested in the revitalization of our party here. Thanks to you all! We are excited to tap into the wisdom and insights of previous Caswell County GOP Chairmen and other leaders that have agreed to assist us in the navigation as we move toward 2020.
Being able to also represent our county at the NC Legislature addressing the needs of our agriculture based rural economy has been an honor and in late March at NC Rural Day, in Raleigh, Caswell County will be represented as well.
Thanks for your confidence in this leadership role. The team looks forward seeing many attend our GOP Convention at the Caswell Senior Center, Saturday, March 30, at 8:30.
